Abstract

The objective of this research is to categorize the texts and their various forms, including literary genres and sub-genres, as well as columns and short stories authored by the Swiss writer Peter Bichsel, based on their form, content, and function.
This study also explores the concept of genre, its classifications, and its examination within literary studies. In the context of world literature, the research aims to analyze the contemporary literary process, comprehend the dynamics and essence of literary genre evolution, and conduct an in-depth examination of the works of modern authors.
The research employs comparative-historical and textual analysis methods, comparing the column genre with other text types to highlight differences and similarities. Furthermore, the study focuses on literary genres, including subgenres, and provides an analysis of the short story “Girl” (“Tochter”) by the writer P.Bichsel.
The findings of the article underscore that the issue of genre has consistently been a significant topic in literary studies, with the study of sub-genres being approached from various expert perspectives. The distinctiveness and characteristics of the short story are also enumerated, noting that this literary form often begins with direct events and concludes with an open ending.
In conclusion, the article delineates the stages of the emergence and development of short stories within Swiss literature. Additionally, it addresses the historical introduction of the “column” genre into literature and its distinctions from other genres. The study concludes that the “column” type of text is incorporated not only in journalistic but also in artistic texts, differentiated by style, size, and content.
