Alisher Navoi’s artistic skills and creative originality are manifested in different places and levels of his works. Titles are one of those parts that the poet had paid serious attention to, where his poetic skills were vividly demonstrated, and they were distinguished by their unique nature. It should be noted that Navoi paid a special attention to writing titles, which was confirmed by the fact that he created special titles for small lyrical works in addition to epic works. The poet’s titles deserve to be evaluated as a separate artistic reality, because they have the power of aesthetic influence in addition to information. One of the most common characteristics of Navoi’s titles is high artistry, which is ensured by perfect composition, (versification technique), elegance of images, artistic content, complete thought and image style. Navoi’s titles are significantly different from the titles of his predecessors. Indeed, the most difficult task in creating a title is to recreate the literary purpose to be described in the main part through new poetic expressions. It is safe to say, that Navoi fully achieved it in the titles of his dastans. Every time, the poet turned the title into a separate artistic whole and was able to make the thought clear and impressive, creating unique poetic scenes, using allusions, metaphors, comparisons and contrasts. In general, high artistic expressiveness is the primary principle, characteristic of Navoi’s image style, and in this research, we want to highlight one aspect related to the manifestation of this principle in the titles.
This article examines one of the aspects that ensure the artistry of Navoi’s titles – the issue of image style. That is, when Navoi gives special titles to chapters or parts, sometimes consciously, sometimes unconsciously, he repeats a certain approach (image or aspect). Such points of stability show the author’s style. One of the features that is often repeated in Navoi’s titles is the introduction of hos tashbeh (vivid comparison) to the title, and this principle is important because it enables the creative person to express his imagination more vividly. We use the methods of comparative-historical, cultural-historical and systematic approaches in the research of the issue, which correspond to its character.
