Abstract

The research aims to systematically classify language and translation units from a translation studies perspective. Uzbek and foreign linguists, translators, and experts in the field have divided opinions and comments on a specific subject into classification groups based on the research’s purpose. In particular, the central concept of linguistics, the linguistic unit, was examined from both diachronic and synchronic perspectives. One of the fundamental concepts in translation studies is the translation unit, which was scientifically distinguished from the language unit.
Language and translation studies involve the study of the development and improvement of language and translation processes. The integration of linguistics with translation studies, working with different language levels, and the classification of units of translation studies are all important tasks in these fields. Even to this day, these issues remain central. Language is the main tool of translation and is a complex system that is essential to any translation process. To fully understand language and translation systems, it is necessary to study theoretical problems, standards, and their mechanisms. Linguistics and translation studies have developed independently over the past few decades, and important changes have been made in all their fields to meet the requirements of the time. Scientific and practical works that focus on developing both systems and clarifying the laws that govern them have been created in all fields of translation studies and linguistics.
The research utilized comparative analysis and descriptive statistical methods to systematize scientific observations and opinions about language and translation units. Industry experts put forward these observations and opinions, and as a result, conclusions were made about using certain terms. The article also describes various approaches to the translation of lexical units.
