Abstract

The article examines the relevance of analytical and critical writing, including essays, reports, and conversations, in central newspapers published in Uzbekistan.
Upon Uzbekistan’s attainment of independence, journalists were shown the path to build a state based on democratic principles, drawing from international experiences. At the same time, in the second half of the 20th century, a commission of scholars from two major universities in the United States published “A Free and Responsible Press. In a general report on mass communications: newspapers, radio, movies, magazines, and books”, the authors investigated the theories of the press as authoritarian, libertarian, social responsibility, and Soviet totalitarian; each of them has goals, tasks, and rules, among which European countries and the United States adopted not only political, scientific, but also certain economic stages to apply democracy in life for three hundred years. It is reported that the application, development, and degradation in Turkestan (Uzbekistan), as well as the fact that complications associated with them do not disappear quickly, indicate 32 years of experience.
The following analysis is based on specific instances from today’s newspapers and their corresponding journalists. The articles under review are as follows: “About the role of a person in history or the phenomenon of Shavkat Mirziyoyev and its influence on the processes taking place in Uzbekistan and Central Asia”, written by Qudratilla Rafikov and published in “Trust” (“Ishonch”) newspaper, “The lamp of spirituality illuminates the thinking of the human mind and awakens the conscience of the soul” by Naim Karimov in “Society” (“Jamiyat”) newspaper, “Independence fighters” by Bakriddin Zaripov in “People’s Word” (“Xalq so‘zi”) newspaper, and “Let’s not cut the branch we are sitting on” by Ulugbek Hamdam. All the articles are devoted to social and political topics.
In the newspaper “New Uzbekistan” (“Yangi O‘zbekiston”), several articles were published that covered the problems faced by the press. Jabbor Razzokov’s “Journalism is an Undiscovered Treasure”, Husan Ermatov’s “The Transformation of Print: What Remains Dependent?” and Ibrahim Gafurov’s “We Cannot Imagine Our Future Without the Press” are some of the articles that were published. The main genre of journalism, the travel sketch, was also discussed in today’s interpretations. Examples of these include Norqabil Jalil’s “Let’s Face the Indian...” and “We Are Not Guests Anymore...”, Islam Hamro’s “Eternal Bonds of Brotherhood”, and Husan Ermatov’s “A New Organization Was Founded in Shusha”. Additionally, Abdirasul Jumakul’s “Impressions of Tajikistan” and Muhammadjon Obidov’s “10 Days on Cousteau Island” were mentioned as examples of travel stories.
It has been highlighted that a significant amount of analysis is directed towards articles in newspapers that report on societal problems. Newspapers strive to remain relevant by covering a broad range of issues, and they often enlist wellknown publicists in their efforts. It is important to note that both the government and the community should actively support and encourage this type of reporting.
According to the conclusion, economic themes are receiving little attention in journalism as of 2023. As a result, one of the challenges is to establish specialized schools in this field, attract professionals with extensive knowledge of economics, and train journalists to uncover monopolies and associated corruption.
