The article examines the historical development of the Uzbek language, its role in shaping national identity, and its significance as the state language of Uzbekistan through a popular-scientific perspective. It highlights the contributions of early Turkic scholars and writers, including Mahmud al-Kashgari, Yusuf Khass Hajib, Alisher Navoi, Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, and the Jadid intellectuals, to the preservation and advancement of the native language. The author discusses language policy in the years of independence, emphasizing the importance of protecting linguistic purity, strengthening the legal status of the state language, enriching its vocabulary, and promoting language culture. The article also addresses contemporary challenges posed by globalization and stresses the need to preserve the Uzbek language as a vital component of national heritage, historical memory, and cultural identity for future generations.
