This article analyzes the linguistic and toponymic information found in the works of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur. Babur’s attitude toward the Turkic language, the stylistic simplicity of the Baburnama, etymological explanations, semantic phenomena, and phonetic changes are discussed on the basis of examples. In addition, the historical and geographical significance of the place names mentioned in the work is demonstrated. Observations are presented on such toponyms as Akhsi, Andijan, Namangan, Koson, and Bandisolor. The study reveals the value of Babur’s heritage as both a linguistic source and a historical document.
