This article examines the stylistic features of aphoristic units formed on the basis of scientific lexis in English and Uzbek from comparativetypological and linguostylistic perspectives. The concept of an “aphoristic unit” is interpreted as a broad linguistic category that includes authorial aphorisms, wise sayings, concise scientificdidactic generalizations, sententiae, maxims and certain paremiological units. Such an approach makes it possible to analyze not only aphorisms in the narrow sense, but also structurally and semantically related expressions that convey generalized intellectual, scientific and cognitive meanings.
The main aim of the study is to identify the semantic, stylistic and pragmatic characteristics of aphoristic units containing scientific-cognitive lexical items such as knowledge, science, thinking, experience, theory, practice, truth, ilm, bilim, fan, tafakkur, tajriba, nazariya, amaliyot and haqiqat. The research material consists of English and Uzbek aphoristic units selected according to several criteria: the presence of a scientific lexical component, semantic conciseness, figurativeness, generalized meaning and didactic-pragmatic orientation. The study applies comparativetypological, linguostylistic, semantic, contextual and descriptive methods of analysis.
The findings show that aphoristic units with scientific content in both languages express complex scientific and cognitive concepts in a concise, figurative and pragmatically effective form. Stylistic devices such as metaphor, antithesis, parallelism, repetition, gradation, paradox and ellipsis play an important role in strengthening their semantic density and expressive potential. English aphoristic units, for example “Knowledge is power”, are mainly characterized by conceptual conciseness, logical generalization and abstract reasoning. Uzbek units such as “Bilim – taraqqiyot kaliti” and “Tajriba – haqiqat mezoni” more clearly reveal didactic meaning, gnoseological orientation and educational influence. In both languages, scientific lexis goes beyond its direct terminological meaning and acquires figurative, evaluative and pragmatic significance. The results of the study may be useful for stylistics, comparative linguistics, linguoculturology, translation studies and the analysis of scientificpopular discourse.
